Supplimentary Regulations for Kart Races on 3rd April and 16th July 2021

  1. The 500 MRCI will organise Interclub permit short circuit kart races at Kirkistown Racing Circuit on Saturday 3rd April and Friday 16th July 2021. These meetings are rounds of the North of Ireland Karting Association Non-Gearbox Championships.
  2. The meeting will be governed by the current General Regulations of Motorsport UK (incorporating the provisions of the International Sporting Code of the FIA), the Karting UK Yearbook 2021, these Supplementary Regulations, the Regulations of the current NIKA Non-Gearbox Championship, and any written instructions that the organising club may issue for the event.
  3. Motorsport UK permits number 119889 and 119891respectively have been issued.
  4. The event is open to all fully elected competition members of any kart club affiliated to NIKA. These clubs are: Bishopscourt Kart Club, Coleraine and District Motor Club, Ulster Karting Club and 500 MRCI Karting.
  5. All competitors and drivers must produce a valid Competition License (Motorsport UK license or Motorsport Ireland equivalent), and a valid Club Membership Card and PG license where required.
  6. The programme of the meeting will be: Signing-on: 8.00 am to 9.30 am, Scrutineering: 8.00 am to 9.45 am, Drivers Briefing: 9.45 am, Practising: 10.05 am, First Heat: 10.45 am. ( The organisers have the right to amend these to comply with relevant Covid regulations at the time of the race)
  7. There will be 2 heats, a pre-final and a final in each class. Heats will be 10 mins + 1 lap, the pre final will be 12 mins + 1 lap and the finals will 14 mins + 1 lap. Bambinos will run for 5 min +1 lap for qualifying and heats. The final will be 6 mins +1 lap. The pre final will be omitted for Bambinos. All vehicles must comply with the current Motorsport UK Technical Regulations, the current Karting UK Yearbook and the current NIKA Non-Gearbox Championship Regulations.
  8. The event will consist of Classes as follows: Bambino, Honda Cadet, IAME Cadet, Rotax Mini Max, Rotax Junior Max, Rotax Max.
  9. Starting positions for heats will be determined by random computerised draw. The starting position for the pre final will be the combination of both heats finishing positions and the result of the pre final will determine the grid for the final. Bambino heats position will be decided upon timed qualifying.
  10. Each competitor will have the opportunity to take part in one practice of 5 minutes duration and Bambinos will have one timed qualifying session of approximately 5 minutes duration in addition however these might be combined depending on race schedule.
  11. Competitors will be identified by NIKA numbers which will not be provided by the organizers. Number plates must be fitted to front, rear and RIGHT side of the kart.
  12. Vehicles in pit areas are under the instructions of Chief Marshal and chief Paddock Marshal. In the interest of safety the use of any form of mechanical paddock transport is not sanctioned. Engines may not be started until after the drivers briefing, and then only in the designated area (race car assembly area) and with the driver seated in the kart.
  13. Facts to be judged by judges of fact and driving standards are defined in the General Regulations of Motorsport UK

  14. Awards will be presented at the end of the meetings on the ratio of 1 award for every 4 entries to a maximum of sixth place in a class. To be classified as a finisher, competitors must take the start of a heat/pre-final or final. Finishing order of the final will determine awards awarded.
  15. The maximum entry for the meeting including reserves is 120. The minimum is 25. The maximum for each class is 30. The minimum for each class is 4. Should maximum be reached, entries will be taken in order of submission and receipt. Should any of the above minimum figures not be reached the organisers have the right to either cancel the class/meeting.
  16. The entry list opens at the beginning of March and closes 7 days before the event Entries will be selected by receipt of entry via by competition secretary Fay Weir. On receipt of entry a request will be made to email photographs of valid 2021 MS UK license and where necessary, PG license. These must be provided otherwise entry will not be accepted.
  17. The entry fee for Bambinos is £75, all other classes, £95. Transponder hire is available from Bishopscourt kart club committee member. If a competitor encounters mechanical problems approximately two thirds of the entry fee may be refunded before the first heat. Should the event be cancelled for any reason the organizers reserve the right to retain £50 of the entry fee to cover expenses.
  18. Entries made after closing will not be accepted. Payment fee must be paid at time of entry via No entries will be accepted on the day of racing

  20. Provisional results will be published as soon as possible after each race or following the end of the event.
  21. Any Protest must be lodged in accordance with Motorsport UK regulation C5.1.2.
  22. Marking and penalties will be as printed in the appropriate section of current Motorsport UK General Regulations except where amended in Section 2 of the current Non-Gearbox NIKA Championship Regulations.
  23. All other current General Regulations of Motorsport UK apply as written.
  24. Use of chassis/engine(s) other than those registered on the scrutineering card will result in a minimum penalty of exclusion from that race.
  25. Infringement of Technical Regulations will be as per Section [C] of the current Motorsport UK Regulations with the exception of the following below. Serious technical infringement (i.e. illegal engine or equipment) will result in exclusion from the results of the meeting and the application of Championship penalties in [C3.5.1]. Other technical infringements (i.e. underweight, loss of bodywork in a race incident, etc) will result in exclusion from heat, final or race and will not carry the further penalties in [C3.5.1].
  26. The competitor is responsible for having sealing holes drilled as necessary to permit secure sealing of any equipment used, which may later be subject to eligibility checking. Competitors must comply with the 2021 North of Ireland Non-Gearbox Karting Championship Regulations Appendix 1: TYRE REGULATIONS and Appendix 2 ENGINE BUY BACK REGULATIONS.

  27. Accidents resulting in the stopping of the race will require the involved competitors to have the permission of the Clerk of the Course before continuing.
  28. Only signed-on officials of the meeting are permitted onto the track during racing.
  29. Normally, competitors omitting chicanes, continuously cutting corners (driving over white lines), and jumping the start will be subjected to a 5 second time penalty.
  30. All published 2021 NIKA Non-Gearbox Championship rules apply.
  31. Fuel must comply with current Motorsport UK regulations. 35 See NIKA Non-Gearbox Championship Rules for Uni Logger system requirements for the Rotax classes.
  32. The organizers have the right to change the make/type of tyres from those specified if a case of force majeure on availability occurs.
  33. Any abuse, either verbal or physical, directed at an official or another competitor will be dealt with severely. Entrants/drivers are responsible at all times for the actions of their friends, relations and pit crew at the event.
  34. On the grounds of safety, kart testing at the conclusion of the meeting will not be permitted.
  35. In line with government guidelines MUST BE FOLLOWED AT ALL TIMES. Should there be a requirement for medical treatment, only 1 adult will be permitted in the ambulance with a child and masks MUST be worn.
